Make no LITTLE Plans: What do you need help with?

"Make No Little Plans"
Do you have great dreams for your custom boutique business?
Did your sewing, crafting or designing begin as a hobby and, now is it evolving to a "real" business?

What would YOU like to know from those designers, artisans and professionals who have been in this field and can share their experience with you; regarding managing your business/time/talents/ideas?

This is your opportunity to pose questions and we will find the answers from some of the custom boutique designers who have been around the block a time or two.

Post your question as a comment and we will do the best we can to answer them! Another idea is to post a comment about a situation you're struggling with and we will do everything in our power to find the perfect person who can give you advice based on their experience. There's power in numbers, there's solidarity in coming together as a community of designers AND buyers. Custom boutique and handmade artisans are some of the friendliest, and most helpful, and kind people I have ever met. In my experience, I have found that most of them seem eager to step up, and share their knowledge with those who have come after them~ and help mentor, and encourage, share tips & experience with newer small business owners.

Designing Minds wants to help YOU with everything that involves running your small business! One of our main goals is to help you LEARN about the topics affecting our niche market, above all else. We want to share the talent and ingenuity which abounds out there; providing you with answers, resources, and blog posts that will not only inform but also inspire as well.  We want to connect buyers with designers (new and veterans). We'd like to help make the connection between the resources you need to make your business run smoother~such as graphic design services, photography, modeling, packaging and shipping supplies and finally, we want to entertain. We want this to be a blog that you LOVE to come and read the first thing in the morning when you log onto your computer~ we want to be be the professional niche blog for handmade and custom boutique designing, buying, admiring; as well as leading the way covering topics many talk about in closed groups, and bringing them to the forefront.

  1. I would like to know how you keep track of what to blog and when. Do you make a list of topics and a plan or do you put it on your calendar? How do you organize what and when to blog?

I would also like to know how much time per day you devote to your sewing or design business when you have children at home. Do you have a time of day you set aside, like nap time, or do you make a goal of a certain number of hours per day? How do you manage home and family and business?

  2. I would like to know the Ga. process for getting a business license and or tax i.d. and are they one in the same?

Also I would like to know a good way to organize and keep up with orders coming in! Thanks so much!!!

  4. I currently run my business in the evening, after my full time job and motherly/wife duties are done. Since I want this business to become my full time job, what is the best way to get into retail stores or local shops? I am not big enough to have a booth at Market, which is where the retail stores tell me they "only" buy from.
